Technical Features for PBB Series Press Brake

Machine Frame

The frame is an assembly of a heavy steel plate consisting of 2 side frames, a upper and lower cam plate, reinforced sheet-metal plate for the oil-tank and the hydraulic unit.  After welding of the frame it is de-stressed.  Some of the main features of this frame are:

1. The machined cylinder mount is a integral part of the side-frame.

2.  The extra heavy side and rear plates provide superior frame stability.

3.  The "Triple Structure Table" provides a rigid die support, but allows for hydraulic crowning.


Ram electrical / hydraulic closed-loop servo system

Top View

  • Servo Valves are centrally mounted minimizing the distance between the valves and cylinders, this provides a responsive servo network with more reliable and better positioning.
  • Ram guides are positioned closer to the bending point and are spread wider apart for better guiding and stability.
  • Ram position feedback to the bed is accomplished by the use of linear encoders (one each side for Y1 & Y2) thus allowing for independent feedback and control for each servo valve.  Each encoder can measure with an accuracy of 5/1000mm, (.0002"), thus allowing ram control of 0.01mm, (.0004").  These encoders are mechanically uncoupled from the bending frame (separate from the side frames and the main body to the machines) through the use of two independent measuring frames (one each side), thus eliminating any frame deflections during bending.


Two Axis, independently controlled Ram

The two hydraulic cylinders (Y1 & Y2) are independently controlled and are connected to the ram by means of spherical washers.  With this technique you can compensate for varying material thickness and or fade bend allowing for varying angles along the work piece.

Triple Structure Table

The triple independent structured table (Bed), has been designed to allow for automatic crowning of the center table, by using CNC controlled hydraulic cylinders mounted on the outboard tables and pushing on the center table.  The center table and the side frames are joined through the outboard tables by spherical washers, thus allowing for a smooth curve over the entire length of the table.

 




Crowning 

The standard machine is equipped with hydraulic crowning.  This crowning is automatically calculated and driven by the numerical control.  These calculated values can be adjusted (higher or Lower) by the operator.  The main advantage of this crowning is that it starts to work once the working pressure has been reached in the main cylinders, during this process the bed is caused to automatically deflect parallel with the ram under CNC control.


Compensation of Frame Deflection

The position of the upper beam, in relation to the lower beam, is measured by two linear encoders that, by means of a robust measuring frame, are attached independent from the side frame.  The machine is constructed in such a way that the outward spring of the side frames has no influence of the angle to be bent.  The machine is equipped with long, adjustable and maintenance-free linear guides.  This design has the possibility to set the upper beam at an angle for offset bending.


Backgauge

The standard machine is equipped with a X axis back gauge and manual RBoth axis are mounted on linear guides and a ball screw for accuracy. The stable construction, combined with 2 multi-functional fingers, offers not only a high precision but also a maximum stroke 1000 mm (40").  Of course each finger can be put upright and the fingertips are exchangeable. (Optional axis available R, Z1/Z2, X1 or 6 axis)

 

 


Tool Clamping

The standard execution of the tooling is European.  
A mechanical fast-clamping system is provided for the upper tools. European type and single V dies can be fitted on the table or dual type can be used.

Other tool clamping such as hydraulic systems is available on request.

 


Stroke and daylight

The bed for the lower tools is mounted directly onto the lower beam and needs no further mechanical structures to compensate the table deflection . A further advantage of this design is that with a relative low overall height, a max. usable daylight and a large stroke is obtained.   

The result is an PBB Press Brake with flexible usage. The double guided ram on both ends guarantees a maximum precision and allows a non-centered bending.


Hydraulic Unit

All the hydraulic components are provided by the same supplier. The company Hoerbiger  - Germany –supplies the servo valves as well as the directional and check-valves, hydraulic blocks and the pump (Hoerbiger-Eckerle).

This complete solution of only one manufacturer guarantees an optimum usability of the hydraulic system.


CNC Control

The PBB series press-brakes are standard equipped with Cybelec DNC 880S Control.

Reliable, productive safety

The design of the PBB is already in accordance with the new press brake standard EN 954 and is CE approved

  • The safety was set up according to the European Machine Directive and is executed according to standard EN 954 for press brakes.
  • Block hydraulics with double valves, secured and guarded.
  • Two-channel safety circuit executed with safety PLC.

Light curtain (Option)

With full integration with Laser Safe PLC, PCSS-F for added protection and unique interface for enhancing machine operation with cycle from first interrupt while monitoring to pinch point. 



Laserguard (Option)

With full integration with Laser Safe PLC, PCSS-F offers maximum freedom around the tools as detecting laser beams run directly under the upper tool tip.  Thanks to the variable height adjustment, the laserguard can be adjusted quickly as the tool heights vary.
